The month’s upcoming concerts

The days may be cold, but they’re getting longer. In the meantime, start off the spring semester with a bang by checking out these upcoming concerts in the Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts area. From Ariana Grande to Joe Jonas, you can get your groove on.

January Concerts

Riders on The Storm (Jan. 21)

Toad’s Place, New Haven, CT

Jim Morrison may be dead, but his music live. See the ‘ultimate’ Door tribute band live at New Haven’s hub for musical giants. Tickets available online.

Aesop Rock (Jan. 23)

Toad’s Place, New Haven, CT

Alternative hip-hop forerunner Ian Matthias Bavitz, better known as ‘Aesop Rock’ performing live with Rob Sonic & DJ Zone. Tickets available online.

HyperGlow (Jan. 27)

Toyota Oakdale Theatre, Wallingford, CT

Glow up the night with high-energy electro music and live art, performances and glow paint for an all-senses experience. Tickets available online.

February Concerts

Lukas Graham (Feb. 1)

Toyota Oakdale Theatre, Wallingford, CT

This Danish pop and soul band has topped charts with their international hit singles “Mama Said” and “7 Years”. Tickets available online.

Miranda Lambert (Feb. 2)

Dunkin’ Donuts Center, Providence, RI

Grammy award-winning country singer Miranda Lambert has topped Billboard’s Hot Country Top 40 lists and appeared as an advisor on the TV show “The Voice”. Lambert will be performing in both Providence and at Mohegan Sun Arena. Tickets available online.

Big Gigantic (Feb. 3)

Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts, Storrs, CT

The University of Connecticut’s annual Winter Concerts features Colorado-based hip-hop, jazz and electronica duo Big Gigantic. Tickets available now through Jorgensen website.

DNCE (Feb. 9)

Toyota Oakdale Theatre, Wallingford, CT

Dance-rock band DNCE, founded by Joe Jonas and Jack Lawless, comes to the Oakdale. Their hit single “Cake by the Ocean” has topped charts with its funk-dance beat. Tickets available online.  

Ariana Grande (Feb. 17)

Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, CT

The smash-hit artist behind “Bang Bang”, “Break Free” and recent album “Dangerous Woman” appears live at Mohegan Sun. Tickets available online.

Panic! at the Disco (Feb. 24)

Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, CT

Rock band and meme-fodder Panic! at the Disco will bring back all your angst-ridden middle school days. Appearing live at Mohegan for all your nostalgia needs. Tickets available online.

Young the Giant (February 25)

College Street Music Hall, New Haven, CT

Radio 104.1 WMRQ presents the indie alternative rock band Young the Giant during their ‘Home of the Strange’ tour. Famous for their hit single “Cough Syrup”, this band has topped charts. Tickets available online.

‘Game of Thrones’ Live Concert Experience: Ramin Djawadi (February 25)

Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, CT

For all you ‘Game of Thrones’ fans out there who always wanted to hear the theme song live, now’s your chance. Show composer Ramin Djawadi appears onstage to conduct a full orchestra, playing through all your favorite tunes and featuring a 3D lightshow.
