It’s been a storybook season so far for the Huskies as they continue to go undefeated and remain the no. 1 team in the nation. Their 3-0 shutout victory over Big East competitor Liberty on Saturday improved their conference win streak to 22 games. Multiple members of the UConn offense contributed to this victory, and are now outscoring their opponents 69-9 on the season.

In the 27th minute, Charlotte Veitner, who recently broke the UConn career goals mark, got the team started with her conference-leading 20th goal of the season. Amanda Collins would get an assist on the play, her team-leading 16th of the season. The Huskies would complete the first half with a 1-0 lead over Liberty, having outshot them 10-5.

The second half of the tilt saw a goal from Margot van Hecking Colenbrander in the 50th minute on a converted penalty corner, her thirteenth goal of the season. Svea Boker and Antonia Tiedtke would both get assists.

Finally, in the 60th, Jessica Dembrowski took a forehanded shot into the left side of the goal for her unassisted fifth goal of the season. The 3-0 UConn lead would go final as the Huskies outshot Liberty 19-7 and lead in penalty corners 9-1.

After Liberty’s scoreless game, UConn goalie Nina Klein notched her eighth shutout of the season and is now tied for UConn’s career record with 33 shutouts during her time as a Husky.

UConn’s Field Hockey returns home for their next tilt against Big East opponent Georgetown. The game will begin at 12 p.m. Saturday Oct. 21 at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
