Mike Enright, the former Senior Associate Director of Athletics Communications for the University of Connecticut, has moved to a position in the university communications department.

“It was really just a professional move to get a chance for experiences outside of athletics,” Enright said.

Enright said he will now serve as Deputy Spokesperson and as Editorial Assistant in university communications.

“Mike’s move to university communications adds to our ability to help spread the word about UConn’s successes, and we’re glad he’s joined the team here,” UConn Spokeswoman Stephanie Reitz said.

Enright had overseen the athletic department’s communication office since April 2002, according to his biography on the UConn Huskies’ website.

Enright was the assistant sports information director at the university from 1988 to 1992.

He earned his undergraduate degree from UConn in 1988 in journalism and political science and went on to receive his master’s degree from Boston College in 2003.

Pat McKenna, the former Associate Director of Athletic Communications, will serve as the interim director until the position is permanently filled, McKenna said.

McKenna had held his position as associate director of athletic communications since 2010 and has worked primarily with the UConn women’s basketball team, according to his biography.

McKenna graduated from UConn in 2003 with a degree in history.
