Men’s Soccer: Huskies look to build on successful 2018 campaign

Last season was a very strong showing for head coach Ray Reid and the UConn men’s soccer team, finishing the season 12-6-2, a 4-win improvement from 2017 and their best record since 2013. Returning players will have to step up in place of the graduated seniors and transfers if the Huskies want to remain near the top of the conference.

After a 2018 that had far more downs than ups, UConn football has the chance to start fresh. While everyone is looking at last season as an important learning experience and something that they can use to grow, they also recognize the need to move on and turn the page.

Jalen Adams left UConn as the tenth all-time scorer in program history. Katie Lou Samuelson and Napheesa Collier helped bring a title to Storrs and transformed into perennial All-Americans. Now, the two programs look to a pair of rising seniors to step into new roles: Christian Vital and Crystal Dangerfield.

Last season was a forgettable one for Margaret Rodriguez and the UConn women’s soccer team. They went 4-14, the worst record in program history. However, they are looking to rebound this season behind an impressive recruiting class.
