Sydney Watson, a sophomore on the UConn women’s lacrosse team, has finished the season on a win, with some large season contributions. Watson finished the season winning a total of 92 draw controls throughout the season, helping her team offensively, scored 39 of her own goals and contributed to 51 of the Huskies’ overall points this season. Watson started all 17 games for the Huskies and was a vital asset to the team. For The Daily Campus’ Athlete Spotlight series, we got a chance to sit down with the Prince Frederick, Maryland native and get a glimpse into her life as a student-athlete.
So far this season, the freshmen have definitely bought in faster than previous seasons. We have a lot of upperclassmen, only two seniors, but a lot of juniors. Coming in from the start as freshmen has been able to help create a culture and start building off that base to create a program. I think all of those tying together will make this season a lot better than it has been in the past.
Morgan Fisher is a junior at UConn and the starting goalie on the women’s hockey team. She is having a great season in her first year as the starter with a save percentage of .923 and several games of 30-plus saves. The Vernon, Connecticut, native took some time last week to sit down with The Daily Campus so we could get to know her better.
It has been a tough season to this point for UConn women’s soccer, but one bright spot has been sophomore Sophia Danyko-Kulchycky. “DK,” as she is known, is tied for first on the team with four goals and is tied for second in shots. The Daily Campus caught up with the Chappaqa, New York, native after a recent 5-3 defeat to UCF in which she scored a goal.
Grace Nolan, a sophomore attacker, is second in goals for the undefeated Huskies. Get to know her a little better.
