Governor Malloy recommends taxes and tolls in 2019 budget proposal, no new cuts for UConn

Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy revealed his fiscal plan for next year in a budget proposal recommending a slew of new tax hikes and tolls, according to a press release from the governor’s office. The University of Connecticut is not proposed to have any new major reductions in state funding, according to the Hartford Courant, besides those that have already been set.

With Tuesday’s passing of the state budget, the Mansfield Town Council Candidates’ Forum Thursday focused on the town’s economic issues, as well as policy pertaining to off-campus students.

Though the recent budget approved by the state legislature would not inflict any cuts on the town, according to Mayor Paul Shapiro, economy was still at the forefront of discussion for the candidates.
