There are 172 teams between the NFL and major college football, and for 171 of them, the season is already over. The Patriots will cruise to a Super Bowl victory next week because the universe owes us nothing, and Patriots fans will pretend that their 30th championship in the last 20 years is just as meaningful as the last 29.
When it comes to football, the American Conference’s crown jewel is the University of Central Florida. The self-proclaimed National Champions have a 9-0 record this season and are ranked as the No.12 team in the country. Michael Logan and Neil Simmons debate whether or not they are worthy of the College Playoff discussion.
Well, we’re a week into October and a good portion into the 2018 college football season, so you all know what that means. It’s time for all the American teams who were overlooked and/or disrespected prior to the season to start popping up in the Top 25 and get their due, despite it being too late in the season for people to overcome the initial anchoring effect of their omission.
I didn’t quite spend all of Saturday watching an unhealthy amount of college football, I spent a bunch of it in the Rentschler Field press box eating Chick-Fil-A and barbecue, mostly ignoring the football game going on 100 or so feet below me.
