Several UConn head coaches are set to hit the road for a six-city tour of Connecticut from May 21-23, for the second year in a row.
UConn (7-14-1) fell behind early, surrendering a goal to Chase Zieky during the fifth minute of the game. Zieky is one of three transfers recently added to this RPI team, and made them a much different team than the one UConn saw earlier in the season. After trading penalties in the 13th and 14th minutes, UConn and RPI (7-15) failed to capitalize, and the first period ended 1-0.
Last time out, the Huskies lost to the then No. 3, now No. 1, UMass Minutemen with a 7-4 final score. Freshmen remain the story of the season as rookie Kale Howarth scored the first two goals of his college career in the loss while classmate Ruslan Iskhakov dished out a career-high three assists.
The Huskies’ associate head coach takes that hustle to their recruiting initiatives. When touted Russian newcomer Ruslan Ishakhov scores a crafty goal, or receives some Hockey East honors, just know the precursor was Pereira getting up at 3 or 4 a.m. every day for two months to make an international phone call to Moscow.
