Senior outfielder/infielder Michael Woodworth continued his terrific season against No. 12 ECU. Even though the Huskies dropped all three games against the Pirates, Woodworth continued to churn out hits. The most important hit for Woodworth came in the ninth inning, when he blasted a homer to bring the Huskies within two runs of tying the game.

The American Player of the Week Award winner led the UConn softball team to a series win over Wichita State in the second iteration of conference play. After hitting a grand slam earlier in the week, Marcelino brought her hot streak into the weekend with another three home runs and eight RBI in three games. Of the 14 total runs scored this weekend, Marcelino was responsible for 57 percent of those runs.

Sophomore big man Carlton provided a spark for the UConn men’s basketball team in its 60-58 win over USF. He dropped 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and blocked one shot in UConn’s (14-15, 5-11) first win in six games.

Top Husky Performances: Collier named AAC player of the week

Napheesa Collier was named The American’s Conference Player of the Week for her effort in UConn’s 78-41 victory over UCF. In the team’s fifth-consecutive win, Collier lead the third-ranked Huskies with 18 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in 31 minutes.
