It was a fair week for the American Athletic Conference in women’s basketball. Some of the good teams won and some of the bad ones lost. Ultimately the conference yearns for better, but several programs had quality weeks.
“(Williams’) activity level was really, really high today,” UConn head coach Geno Auriemma said. “I love watching Gabby play. I enjoy watching her because of how many things she’s capable of doing. I want her to have a great last two months of the season and I’m hopeful that she can just keep adding performances like this.”
In this year’s edition of the American Athletic Conference matchup, No. 1 UConn made sure to bury Tulane before the game ever got close. The Huskies shot efficiently all night, including 92.9 percent from the field in the third quarter, and cruised to an impressive 98-45 victory Saturday afternoon in Gampel Pavilion.
