The UConn men’s hockey team hosted Army and RPI this weekend in their home-opener. The Huskies dropped both games, but with almost two-thirds of their team being underclassmen, there is undoubtedly growth in store as the season progresses.
Tempe, Arizona and college hockey doesn’t sound right when your say it out loud. Even you think about it, the fit is even worse. Yet this year the Arizona State Sun Devils are on a tear and are poised for a NCAA Tournament berth.
We’re 10 games into the season and it’s time to check on the youngsters of the UConn men’s hockey team. The freshman class may have been the most talked about group before the Huskies even took the ice and they have been performing at a high level early in the season.
As a follower of Boston University, I am very concerned by the squad’s horrendous start to the new season. Equal to my level of concern is my level of confusion regarding their rival Boston College’s abhorrent start.
This year’s team features a top-tier recruiting class but graduated a sizable chunk of last year’s squad. I think this year’s success is dependent on how quickly the younger guys can mature and contribute on a consistent basis.
