The Ice Bus is getting fueled up and is almost ready to leave the station! The UConn men’s hockey season gets underway this Saturday when they travel to Bridgeport to take on Sacred Heart. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
UConn (7-14-1) fell behind early, surrendering a goal to Chase Zieky during the fifth minute of the game. Zieky is one of three transfers recently added to this RPI team, and made them a much different team than the one UConn saw earlier in the season. After trading penalties in the 13th and 14th minutes, UConn and RPI (7-15) failed to capitalize, and the first period ended 1-0.
Last time out, the Huskies lost to the then No. 3, now No. 1, UMass Minutemen with a 7-4 final score. Freshmen remain the story of the season as rookie Kale Howarth scored the first two goals of his college career in the loss while classmate Ruslan Iskhakov dished out a career-high three assists.
