To whom it may concern at the Office of Community Standards, my name is Jacob Burte. I am a senior here at UConn, an honors scholar, and a close friend of a recently expelled friend who I will refer to as Student X, to protect his identity.
To the Office of Community Standards, I write to you with a heavy heart, as I have just recently learned of a teammate, a friend and a brother of mine that has just had a very positive opportunity taken away from him if the motion for expulsion from the University of Connecticut stands as is.
The reason I am writing to you today is to bring up Community Standard’s decision to expel my friend from the university. Before I state my support, I would like start at the beginning of the semester.
Over the years it has become clear to my friends and I that the University cares far more about it’s overall image than any individual student, no matter how biased and arbitrary this has made their disciplinary process.
