If there’s one club that wants to make some positive change on campus, it’s Active Minds. The University of Connecticut chapter of the national organization challenges the stigma surrounding mental health and educates college students about mental health resources available to them.

When you went on a tour of the University of Connecticut as a high schooler, do you remember which unique clubs they told you about? Well, third-semester electrical engineering major Josh Matthias remembered and wanted to create his own club outlandish enough to garner mention on student-led tours of UConn. Thus, the Nicki Minaj Fan Club was born.

From brand-new clubs like the Cooking Club to larger, well-known organizations like PIRG and SUBOG, the Fall Involvement Fair allowed students to find a group that allowed them to have fun, serve their community, connect with people in their major and much more.

Zipcar/Ford video contest lets student organizations apply for funds

Student organizations at the University of Connecticut can now apply for grant funding through the Zipcar/Ford “Students with Drive” video contest. This initiative began in October 2011 to aid in providing funding to college organizations that help make their communities a better place to live.
