Late October is arguably one of, if not the, best times of the year when it comes to professional sports. The World Series draws to a close, the highly-anticipated NBA season has begun and the NFL continues to produce plenty of storylines every week. Huskies across the leagues have had great performances in recent days, giving UConn fans everywhere plenty to be excited about.

But even with some lean years under Bob Diaco and Paul Pasqualoni, the Huskies still have a respectable NFL contingent. Sometimes, they don’t make that much noise, but when they do, it is worth noting. Here is what they did in week eight of the NFL season

Teams made their final cuts this weekend in order to get the rosters down to the 53-man maximum. That meant good news for some former Huskies who found themselves on a team, but also some bad news for those ex-UConn players who were part of the mandatory cuts.

Currently this season, three former Huskies are playing in the “Big Show” while there are two pitching coaches in the MLB and eight players who are working their way up in the minor league. The three players in the Major League right now are Nick Ahmed of the Arizona Diamondbacks, George Springer of the Houston Astros and Matt Barnes of the Boston Red Sox.
