The best basketball players in the high school class of 2025 will take the court Tuesday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. for the annual McDonald’s All-American Games.
Three freshmen on the 2025-26 UConn men’s basketball team — Darius Adams, Braylon Mullins and Eric Reibe — will be featured in the game, all teaming up for the East team.
Three McDonald’s All-Americans for UConn is a program record and ties Duke for the most this year. The previous record was two in 2000 when Connecticut brought in Taliek Brown and Scott Hazelton. This year’s recruiting class marks the third consecutive year that UConn has a McDonald’s All-American on their roster. In 2023, UConn added Stephon Castle and followed up with Liam McNeeley the following year. The Huskies have had 16 McDonald’s All-Americans in program history.
Mullins will come to Storrs as the sixth highest-rated player to commit to UConn in the 247Sports era. The 6-foot-5 guard had a historic final season at Greenfield-Central High School in Indiana, becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer with 2,158 points, averaging 32.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.7 steals per game while shooting 47.6% from the 3-point line. Mullins was most recently named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Indiana.
“He’s one of the best shooters, in my opinion, in the country,” Reibe said on Mullins at a press conference on the eve of the McDonald’s All-American Game. “He can just catch anywhere and just shoot in transition. He can do pull-ups, but he’s also very athletic.”
Adams is not too far behind Mullins on the 247Sports list. While there was not as much information available on his senior year at La Lumiere School in Indiana, the Manasquan, N.J. native impressed many at Sunday’s practice and scrimmage sessions.
“He’s one of the hardest players I’ve had to guard throughout my career,” Jalen Haralson, Adams’ high school teammate and Notre Dame commit, said. “He does annoying things on the court, makes annoying shots. It’s like ‘How do you hit that?’”
247Sports’ Eric Bossi said that Adams “just has a great understanding of playing the right way and was fun to watch on Day 2.”
At the top of the priority list for Adams is to give the Huskies a boost on the defensive end after finishing the season ranked No. 76 in defensive efficiency on KenPom, their lowest ranking since the 2018-19 season.
He is willing to run the offense at point guard or come off the ball as a shooting guard but said that he can do whatever the team needs him to do.
“I’m willing to play both [positions],” Adams said. “Wherever they need me to fill in the spots, I’ll do it, whatever it takes [to help the team].”
Right behind Adams on the list is Reibe, a 7-foot center who went to The Bullis School in Potomac, Md. He is one of the top centers in the class and UConn head coach Dan Hurley thinks he can become a “cheat code.” It did not take much for Reibe to become a fan favorite in Connecticut.
During his interview with 247Sports’ Adam Finklestein after announcing his commitment to UConn, he said that he was “happy to be a f—ing Husky.”
Bossi said that Reibe “should be nearly impossible to move off the block once he gets some time in a college weight room.”
Haralson raved about Reibe’s game, which he had not seen much of before practicing with the East team.
“He hasn’t gone to a lot of the camps, so it’s my first time seeing him up close,” he said. “He’s big, he’s versatile, he can step out, shoot a little bit. I thought he’d be a great addition to [UConn].”
Add four-star wing Jacob Furphy from the NBA Global Academy in Australia, and UConn has a freshman class that only ranks behind Duke and Houston according to 247Sports.
Adams said that playing with Reibe and Mullins is easy already and cannot wait to help Connecticut get back to competing for championships after a heartbreaking end to their season.
“For me, my point of view, I wanted to help them so bad,” Adams said on UConn’s second-round loss to top-seeded Florida. “I kind of felt the pain too.”
Fans will be able to get an early look at the three future Huskies sharing the floor. The boys’ McDonald’s All-American game will tip-off at 9 p.m. and will be available to watch on ESPN.
