Original queer fantasy ‘The Gilded Throne’ to premiere this weekend 

Spotlit in the darkness of Schenker Hall, student-run theater group Page to Stage Productions has spent the past few months immersed in tales of blood, magic and fantasy. While in the midst of a tech rehearsal this past Tuesday, light glinted off swords and voices called out for microphone checks and makeup touchups as the group prepared for “The Gilded Throne.” 

Point-Counterpoint: Is fanfiction worth your time? 

From Wattpad to Archive of Our Own, fanfiction can be found all over the internet. But with widespread accessibility comes widespread criticism, and fanfiction has found itself to become heavily associated with nerd culture. Two writers of the Life section have come together to finally settle this debate and decide if fanfiction really is the epitome of cringe. 

The Pull List: Drama and discourse in DC casting 

Fans of DC Comics have spent some time in the dark after DC co-CEO James Gunn first announced his plan for the DC cinematic universe. Without much news, hungry fans have turned to predictions and speculation on what Hollywood stars we may see on the big screen in the next few years.

On April 12 at the Von der Mehden Recital Hall, the University of Connecticut Saxophone Studio performed “A Celebration of Zachary Rubin” in honor of the second-semester music and finance major who passed away earlier this year.

Old songs that were new to me in March 

As someone who primarily listens to music that was released before I was born, it can be a challenge for “new music” to find its way onto my playlists and into regular rotation. While few and far between, a select gathering of tracks seem to reveal themselves every month through being suggested after playlists finish or shuffling artists.
