CT officials announce federal agent accountability bill 

Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumental and Attorney General William Tong are backing legislation that would ensure the ability to sue or prosecute federal agents under Connecticut law.

CT challenges EPA recission of endangerment finding 

Connecticut and 36 other parties filed a petition on March 19 to challenge the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) rescission of the endangerment finding, a landmark study that served as the basis for the EPA’s regulation of harmful greenhouse gases. 

Explaining the SAVE America Act 

Congress is currently debating the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or the SAVE America Act, to determine whether the government will impose stricter voter identification restrictions.

USG Election Results: Montanaro and Conrad win office 

The University of Connecticut’s Undergraduate Student Government Spring 2026 election results are in, with Venice Montanaro and Keira Conrad winning the election for president and vice president with 63.8% of the votes.

Audrey Nichols has been lobbying for gun violence legislation for years. A survivor of the Sandy Hook shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, she has found activism a way to heal from the trauma she experienced at a young age. 

USG runs pilot program for students to pay off parking tickets  

The University of Connecticut’s Undergraduate Student Government (USG) is allowing students to pay off their unpaid parking tickets by donating nonperishable goods on April 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Innovative Partnership Building parking lot.

UConn business student creates dining hall app focused on nutrition

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s (CPB) board of directors voted on Jan. 5 to dissolve the organization after 58 years of operation. 

What’s happening with SNAP benefits? Where UConn students can receive food aid

President Donald Trump signed a law approving federal funding through the fiscal year on Nov. 12, meaning residents who receive food aid benefits would be receiving their full benefits for the month of November, not the reduction that went into action at the start of the month.

A golf practice facility proposal for the University of Connecticut men’s golf team placed over a historic natural site is facing backlash in the forms of public comments, Facebook groups and yard signs.

State Park by Avery Point gets $2.87 million restoration 

A restoration project at Bluff Point State Park led by the Connecticut National Estuarine Research Reserve was awarded a $2.87 million grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to protect the park against an encroaching sea level.  

UConn assesses regional campuses for improvement plans 

The University of Connecticut presented improvement plans to the four regional campuses in an executive summary given to the Board of Trustees by the Provost’s Office last month.
