Spring weekend will take place this Thursday through Saturday with numerous free events for University of Connecticut students to participate in.
A schedule of all activities can be found on the event’s website.
“Spring Weekend is a long-standing UConn tradition that brings our community together through events, music, and shared experiences. It is a time to unwind, connect, and be part of the excitement that makes UConn unique,” Fany DeJesús Hannon, UConn’s dean of students, said in an email to students.
Some of Thursday’s events include soft serve ice cream from West Side Creamy Cones on the Student Union Mall at 2 p.m., an a capella/pop jazz performance by M-Pact located at the tent on the Student Union Mall at 7 p.m. with an opening performance by UConn’s Extreme Measures a capella group at 6:30 p.m., a showing of The Avengers at the Student Union theater with free popcorn and candy at 8 p.m. and bingo at the tent on the Student Union Mall at 9 p.m. with prizes for each round.

On Friday, there will be snow cones from Kona Ice in the Doug Berstein Game Room in the Student Union from 12 to 10 p.m., outdoor laser tag at the Student Union Mall from 2 to 6 p.m., UConnapalooza at 3 p.m. on Fairfield Way and a comedy show sponsored by the Student Union Board of Governors (SUBOG) featuring Micheal Blaustein and Trevor Wallace at 9 p.m. at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts. The comedy show requires a ticket.
Saturday has more events including OOzeball at North Campus Fields from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., BFA Senior Film & Animation Festival at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Afrofestin the Student Union Ballroom from 2 to 5 p.m. and a food truck festival at Fairfield Way and the Student Union Mall at 5 p.m.
Fresh Check Day is also taking place Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. This event is hosted by UConn’s Suicide Prevention Committee and Student Health and Wellness.
“Fresh Check isn’t just an event—it’s an experience. Designed to spark conversation, break down stigma, and build a stronger, more supportive community, this annual gathering shines a light on mental health awareness and the importance of reaching out—whether for yourself or for someone you care about,” Hannon said in an email.
Fresh Check Day will also feature a live DJ at the Student Union terrace, the Dairy Bar truck on Fairfield Way, baby cows visiting from Horsebarn Hill, interactive activities, a raffle and giveaways, according to Hannon.
“Let’s make this Spring Weekend a fun, safe, and positive experience for everyone,” Hannon said.
