Hard to believe that there are only three weeks left of classes, right Huskies? Spring semester is flying by here at the University of Connecticut, but students are riding high after the women’s basketball team won the national championship game this past Sunday. With basketball season over, it’s time to fill that void with the great selection of live music that the Nutmeg state has to offer. Here’s a look at where to catch live music this weekend in Storrs and across Connecticut.

Friday 4/11: The Dog P0und “Space Prom” Storrs

What better way to follow up a weekend with two nights of shows than with another weekend with two nights of shows. Kicking things off at The Dog P0und, Storrs’ hottest basement venue, this weekend is their “Space Prom” show on Friday, April 11. The four-band bill is highlighted by Solgyres, the reggae fusion group has dazzled audiences across New England with a sound that few bands could come close to replicating.

Joining them is Remedies, one of the fastest-growing bands in the state, along with Samsara and SCRT AGNT. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., music starts at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $7. No parking is available on-site. For the address, message @thedogp0und on Instagram.

Friday 4/11: “Live & Loud Showcase” @ Elmwood Community Center — West Hartford

If you’re in the mood for some live music but are itching to get off campus, then look no further than the “Live & Loud Showcase” at the Elmwood Community Center in West Hartford, Conn. The three-band bill is one of the best lineups of the last month and is sure to get the crowd moving. First up is Psycho Brat, a four-piece emo punk group from New Haven that’s known for their upfront, in-your-face sound.

Joining them is Symposia, the nu metal-inspired group that provides a great opportunity for moshers to let it all out. Rounding out the night is Indigo Folly, a recently formed group who performed their debut show at The Dog P0und in March. Doors open at 6 p.m., music starts at 6:30 p.m. and there is a $10 suggested donation for the bands.

Saturday 4/12: The Dog P0und “Music under the Pink Moon” — Storrs

I mentioned that The Dog P0und is going back-to-back again this weekend, and we’ve got a doozy of a show with “Music under the Pink Moon” on Saturday, April 12. The clear highlight of the night is Ovlov, an indie rock band best known for their song “Strokes.” Originally hailing from Newtown, Conn., the band has nearly 200,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and is the biggest artist to perform at The Dog P0und so far.

Joining them on the bill are Lootbug and Cat Crash, both of whom are among the most frequent performers at The Dog P0und. Rounding out the bill is Talon, a Brooklyn-based band who is starting off their spring tour with this show. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., music starts at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $15. No parking is available on-site. For the address, message @thedogp0und on Instagram.
