The UConn men’s club lacrosse team got back into action on Saturday, as they made an important road trip up to Chestnut Hill to play Boston College. The Eagles, who are in Connecticut’s division, came into the matchup with an on the season, having big wins over Clemson and UNC. The Huskies came into the matchup fresh off a two-game road trip sweep, beating Buffalo and Syracuse.

The game, which was played at Alumni Stadium, started off as any other. In the first quarter, both teams started off fast as BC drew first blood scoring first. However, the Eagles were not done there, as they would tack on two more goals to take a 3-0 lead. Connecticut would respond, as they were able to get back-to-back goals to cut the lead to one by the end of the first period.

In the second quarter, both goalies shined, as UConn’s Harrison Slade gave up two goals in the quarter while BC goalie Brian Kaskey only let up one. The score going into halftime was 5-3 in favor of the Eagles. For the Huskies this is right where they wanted to be as they were down two to a top team in the division on the road.

Following the break the Huskies came out firing, as they looked to even the score as the game intensity drew on. The Huskies were able to net four goals in the third period to put pressure on the Eagles. Boston College would respond, though, they put up two goals of their own to level the score heading into the fourth and final quarter. Tied at 7-7 going into the fourth, the momentum seemed to be in the visitors’ favor, but it fizzled as the home side got going. BC would strike first in the fourth and in just a blink of an eye the score was now 10-7 Eagles as the clock struck zero on the game.

The Huskies played well, although they could not close out the job when it matters. Slade finished with 14 saves on 24 shots marking a 58.3 save percentage on the day. Overall, he held the Eagles along with the defense however it could have been a pinch better in the fourth to keep the game close. Freshman Patrick Dunn had his breakout game for the Huskies as he netted two goals in the loss. Mclnerney was also a catalyst for the squad, as he once again scored putting two goals home. Boden Frost would also tack on two assists for Connecticut.

The Huskies will now look onto UNH (7-4) in another divisional game on the road. The Huskies will fall to (3-4) with three games left in the regular season.
