Those who are familiar with Daredevil (Matt) are aware of his unending charm, one that leads to just about any woman in his life to fall in love with him (other than Jessica Jones- stay strong girl). We see in the series’ alone Matt graces the presence of many women (and men). These characters include Karen, Claire, Heather, Elektra and Frank. Many fans have strong opinions about who is best for Matt, mainly being either Karen or Claire, though I’m sure every pairing has its fans. I’d argue that Matt has yet to be in a relationship with the one for him.

One of the most well-known and popular partners of Matt is Elektra. I doubt many people genuinely believe they’re good together, seeing as she’s terrible for him. But perhaps there exist people who believe she allows him to let out a darker side of himself and that the two aren’t so different. Personally, I think her inability to stop killing people, as well as her desire for constant chaos, makes them bad for each other. While it’s nice Matt had a relationship where he could be honest and open about the parts of himself he typically hides, they are ultimately not good for each other, with Elektra wanting Matt to focus solely on being Daredevil and Matt wanting Elektra to stop killing people.
One of the strongest relationships that Matt has is the one he shares with Karen Page. While their romantic involvement didn’t last long as official partners, their friendship is a strong one, something that has resulted in many fans believing them to be the best ship. Their lack of chemistry is my main reason for disliking this relationship, along with the fact that Matt’s life as Daredevil consistently causes problems with Karen’s life, though a lot of that was due to him lying to her about it. If Elektra represents Matt’s desire to be with someone who accepts him as Daredevil, then Karen represents his desire to be with someone who accepts and encourages him as Matt. Unfortunately for both women, Matt is made up of both of these halves and would not be satisfied dating someone who prefers only one part of him, even if they’re willing to put up with the other part.

Matt and Claire, in my opinion, are the best of the options I listed. Unfortunately, in this case, Matt is not good for Claire, and she really is better off without him in her life. Claire knows about his life as Daredevil, and while she may not agree with everything he does, she believes in what he believes in. Like him, she does what she can to help her community, and she never encourages him to kill people. However, she’s stressed enough as it is helping other superheroes and every other injured person in New York City. She doesn’t need to be kidnapped and threatened by Daredevil’s enemies on top of that.
Now to Heather. If you haven’t seen “Daredevil: Born Again” you can skip this paragraph because I don’t want to deter anyone from “Born Again” by hating on the love interest so hard or spoil anything about the plot. If someone described Heather in general terms, such as that she’s a therapist, I’d say “yeah alright she’s probably reasonable.” What I mean is, Heather sucks in her personality, not her life choices. For starters, Heather is for whatever reason, anti-vigilante despite being saved by Daredevil (if you know you know). On top of that, despite being a therapist, she’s quite self-centered and is the only love interest of Matt’s that leaves his side when he needs them most. Also, she’s somehow working with just about all of the people trying to take down Daredevil/Matt and doesn’t notice any of the blatant indicators that her clients are actual criminals.
Overall, Matt has many love interests, some of which he returns to on multiple occasions. But I would argue none of them are right for him. After all, the best match for him is obviously me.
