Reports of a shooting occurred at the University of Massachusetts Boston on Thursday, Sept. 11. There were no reported injuries.
According to Boston’s NBC10, there was a massive response from first responders to campus but no confirmation of gunfire or people with guns. UMass Boston said the incident was over at 5:11 p.m.
At 3:40 p.m., UMass Boston posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that there was a “police incident” near the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate. It said to avoid the area and that more information was to come.
At 3:47 p.m., another post said a police incident was around the Residence Hall East Building. UMass Boston’s X then posted that there was a “public safety threat” around the East Building at 4:01 p.m.
Another post at 4:14 p.m. said there was a police incident near Campus Center. AT 4:55 p.m., UMass Boston posted an emergency alert.
“Classes and activities are canceled for the evening. Police investigation ongoing. More information to follow,” the post said.
At 5:11 p.m., UMass Boston posted again to say the incident was all clear.
“There is no ongoing threat to the community,” the post said.
