Today is election day. Those registered in Mansfield will be able to vote in nine different races on the ballot: town council, board of education, BOE vacancy, board of assessment appeals, planning and zoning commission, planning and zoning alternate, zoning board of appeals, zoning board alternate and regional BOE. But how and where can people vote?
There are four polling locations in Mansfield, all open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Closest to the University of Connecticut is the Mansfield Community Center, located at 10 S. Eagleville Road. There is also the Mansfield Middle School gymnasium at 205 Spring Hill Road, the Mansfield Public Library Buchanan Auditorium at 54 Warrenville Road and the Annie E. Vinton School at 306 Stafford Road.
Voters can find their specific voting location, assigned based on address, on the Connecticut Secretary of State’s website. They can also use this website to check the status of their registration to ensure there are no issues before they get to the polls, or to check that their absentee ballot was received by the Town Clerk.
Not registered? No problem. Mansfield offers same-day registration at the Mansfield Town Hall Council Chambers Room at 4 S. Eagleville Road. Prospective voters can bring identification and proof of residency to register. As long as voters are registered by 8 p.m. today, they can vote.

On-campus UConn residents can register in Mansfield and vote in the municipal election as well. Students can also go to Mansfield Town Hall for same-day registration. UConn students can either register in Mansfield or register in their hometown. Local candidates are pushing for UConn students to get involved in local politics, saying it is good preparation for life outside of college.
If voters are in line to register at Town Hall or to vote at one of the polling locations at 8 p.m. when the polls close, they should stay in line according to the Secretary of State. The location will allow everyone in line to register or vote before they fully close.
Throughout the night, voters can follow preliminary results on the Secretary of State’s election night reporting website.
