HuskyTHON is holding their annual “Unite as One Day,” at the Student Union today from 9 to 4 p.m.

Unite as One Day is the organization’s second push day of the year for fundraising. According to a press release from HuskyTHON, over 3,900 University of Connecticut student participants will spend the day fundraising.

Paige O’Keeffe, a seventh-semester elementary education major and vice president of communications for HuskyTHON, said the goal of the event is to raise as much as possible in 24 hours.

“What we’re encouraging people to do for this day is to unite as one above all else,” O’Keeffe said.

The money raised from all HuskyTHON events goes to Connecticut Children’s, a non-profit hospital, according to HuskyTHON’s website.

Room 104 in the Student Union, also known as the “hype room,” will have various resources connecting to Connecticut’s Children’s hospital such as a fundraising resources table, HuskyTHON merchandise and a table featuring miracle children, who are current patients at Connecticut Children’s, O’Keeffe said.

In the hype room, all 32 of HuskyTHON’s management team members will be present all day, according to O’Keeffe. Lots of other members, such as engaged participants, dance representatives and HuskyTHON rising leaders, will be in attendance as well, she said.

At the event, there will also be a scavenger hunt and a chance for people to earn a donation, she said.

On Wednesday, each participant is challenged to raise $90 for the 90-trauma-informed caregivers at Connecticut Children’s, according to a press release.

Last fall, the organization raised almost $200,000 on this day, O’Keeffe said. She said she is looking forward to the event.

“It’s really incredible what our whole community can do when they do come together and unite as one,” O’Keeffe said.

Aside from this event, HuskyTHON also does outreach outside of UConn for donations, O’Keeffe said.

Each month HuskyTHON produces a canning document with dates for people to stand outside of grocery stores and ask for donations, she said. HuskyTHON also gives resources for people to set up their own canning initiative, she said. Later in the academic year, there will be another push day called “Day of Strength,” she said.

Alyssa Piccoli, the executive director of HuskyTHON 2026, said the organization’s mission is to show that people can face challenges together.

“The strength of HuskyTHON lies in the belief that no one should face their challenges alone, and that together, we can bring light to even the darkest moments. When our community Unites as One, we are reminded of the power of collective action, learning what it means to believe in a brighter future.” Piccoli said in a press release.

More information on the event can be found on HuskyTHON’s website and social media platforms.
