Indoor Track: Huskies set to attend the Harvard Classic this weekend

The Huskies’ men’s and women’s indoor track teams are set to compete at the Harvard Classic on Saturday, Dec. 6.

Both the UConn women’s and men’s teams will strive to build on their highlights from their last competitions of the 2024–2025 season. Last February, the Huskies finished first in various events while also setting new records in program history during the Crimson Elite Meet and the 2025 Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational.

During the Crimson Elite Meet, Senior A’liyah Thomas won the women’s long jump with a jump recorded at 6.13 m. Joining Thomas in the records was former UConn senior Travis Roux. He claimed the top spot in the men’s weight throw with a recorded throw of 20.25 m, the fourth best in indoor program history. Additionally, graduate student Diarmuid O’Connor finished first in the heptathlon with a total of 5,413 points.

UConn also dominated at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational. In the women’s pole vault, senior Mallory Malz earned the win at 3.60 m. Following suit, sophomore Jordan Quinn finished the men’s 60 m hurdles with a recorded time of 8.23 seconds. Audrey Kozak rang victorious in the open women’s 200 m dash in 25.10 seconds.

Holding substantial wins from the last season, there are a few names to look out for during the upcoming weekend. During the indoor track season, graduate student O’Connor won the Big East Heptathlon Champion with a total of 5,594 points after taking the top spot at the 2024 Crimson Elite. Further, adding to his record is his 60 m hurdle time which sits at 8.38 seconds. Another key person to watch is junior Kozak. In the 2024–2025 Indoor season, Kozak claimed a silver medal in the pentathlon at the Big East Championships with a total of 3,420 points. Additionally, she won the pentathlon at Greg Roy-al Rumble with a substantial 3,374 points.

With many familiar faces returning to the team, the Huskies have not only proved what they are capable of delivering but have further showcased the standard of excellence they will build upon throughout this weekend and the remainder of the season.
