The Fall 2025 semester is almost over at the University of Connecticut, with finals week taking place from Dec. 8 to Dec. 12. With that comes winter break and different hours for UConn’s Dining Services.

According to the UConn dining website, only one dining hall, McMahon, will be open during the winter break, which takes place from Dec. 14 to Jan. 14.

After dinner on Dec. 14, all students’ fall dining plans will end, and the winter dining plan for students staying on campus will start on Dec. 15.

On Dec. 13, hot breakfast will be open from 7 to 10 a.m. at South, McMahon and Northwest, while cold breakfast takes place from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Brunch takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., and dinner is from 4 to 7:15 p.m.

On Dec. 14, only McMahon is open during the same hours as Dec. 13, but that won’t stay the same for the rest of winter break.

Starting on Dec. 15, breakfast at McMahon will be from 7 to 9:30 a.m., lunch will be from 11 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and dinner will be from 4 to 7:15 p.m.

During winter break, students on a meal plan will get one breakfast, lunch and dinner per day with unused meals not rolling over to the next day or week.

Other locations that are open during the break include the Market Café, which is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 15 through 19, Dec. 22 through 24, Dec. 26, Dec. 29 through 31, Jan. 5 through 9 and Jan. 12 through 16.

Earth, Wok and Fire will also being open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the days the Market Café is open, except Dec. 29 through 31 and Jan. 12 through 16.

UConn’s food pantry, Husky Harvest, is also set to be open during winter break but with limited hours, although those hours have not been released yet.

While on campus, there will also be sporting events students can go to. On Dec. 31, there will be a men’s hockey game versus Long Island University at the Toscano Family Ice Forum at 2 p.m. On Jan. 3, there will be a women’s hockey game against Providence at 3 p.m.
