The Penn Elite Meet began on Thursday, Jan. 22, with the first event scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The last day of the event started at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24.
The first event UConn athletes competed in was the men’s 3000m. With the times of 8:26.26 and 8:52.54, freshman Christian Menounos and senior Daniel Hilmer finished the race at 16th and 21st place.
Next up was the men’s and women’s 400m. Juniors Noah Colangelo and Orenthal Singletary finished with times of 49.92 and 47.94. Sophomore Del Lindsay also performed well, earning a 48.22 time. As for the women, junior Anna Connors dominated the track, placing third in her heat with a time of 54.44. Following her lead, senior Jessica Starr placed 10th in section two, with a time of 56.76. Freshman Kiley Shatzel finished in 16th place with a time of 58.45 in heat three. In the fourth heat, freshman Emerson Flaker secured sixth place with a 55.11 finish.

In the 200m dash, freshman Teyedza Jaravaza secured the fastest Husky time with a 21.69 finish. Following directly behind him was junior Noble Gongon with a time difference of 0.1 seconds. As for the women’s side, senior Mia Dansby earned 18th place with a time of 25.50.
The Huskies also performed well in the field events. Freshman Kaylee Meyers placed third in the high jump with a 1.73m jump. Junior Dar Jankovic also secured third place with a mark at 2.00m. Sophomore Enaji Mehammad secured sixth place with a mark at 1.95m.
In the pole vault, freshman Wyatt Martin secured 11th place with a mark at 4.59m, and senior Rachel Mason placed seventh with a mark at 3.66m.
The Huskies saw the biggest competition in shot put and the weight throw. Freshman-senior duo, Ella Karp and Sinclaire Fryer secured 12th and 13th place in the women’s shot put. Karp threw for 13.19m and Fryer earned a 13.11m mark. For the men, the two biggest competitors were freshman Marshall Potter and senior Jack Foster. With a mark at 17.99m, Potter secured a first-place win for UConn. Following him, Foster marked 14.65m, awarding him 13th place. In the men’s weight throw, Potter earned fifth place with a 17.86m throw. For the women’s free throw, junior Gabriela DeFelice threw for 15.72m, with a final place at 11th.
