The Honor Roll: Arizona finally loses, Michigan jumps to No. 1

We college basketball fans are not deserving of the great games the sport has had lately. Whether it was a ferocious 22-point comeback by Nebraska to force overtime or St. John’s hanging on at home against Xavier, college basketball games have not disappointed.  

Michigan (23-1, 13-1 Big Ten) moved up to No. 1 after a ferocious comeback at Northwestern to beat the Wildcats by 12. The Wolverines host UCLA on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. on CBS. 

Arizona (23-1, 10-1 Big 12) moved down to No. 2 after falling to Kansas for the first loss of the season. The Wildcats host No. 17 Texas Tech on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN.  

Houston (22-2, 10-1 Big 12) moved up to No. 3 after a huge road win at BYU on Saturday, followed by a double-digit win at Utah. The Cougars host struggling Kansas State on Saturday at 4 p.m. on Peacock. 

Duke (22-2, 11-1 ACC) dropped to No. 4 following a heartbreaking loss at North Carolina on Saturday. The Blue Devils have a big game at home, hosting Clemson on Saturday at noon on ESPN.

UConn (23-2, 13-1 Big East) fell to No. 5 after seeing an 18-game winning streak end at St. John’s last week. The Huskies host rival Georgetown on Saturday at 8 p.m. on Peacock.   

Kansas (19-5, 9-2 Big 12) moved up to No. 6 after a thrilling win against Arizona without Darryn Peterson. The Jayhawks visit No. 10 Iowa State on Saturday at 1 p.m. on ABC.  

Purdue (20-4, 10-3 Big Ten) moved up to No. 7 after a huge upset win at Nebraska. The Boilermakers visit Iowa on Saturday at 5 p.m. on FOX.  

Michigan State (20-4, 10-3 Big Ten) moved up to No. 8 after a huge win against Illinois to get back on track. The Spartans visit Wisconsin tonight at 8 p.m. on FOX.  

Florida (18-6, 9-2 SEC) comes in at No. 9 following three-straight wins over tournament teams, with the past two coming on the road. The Gators host No. 24 Kentucky on Saturday at 3 p.m. on ABC.  

Iowa State (21-3, 8-3 Big 12) dropped to No. 10 after a stunning loss at TCU on Tuesday. The Cyclones look to bounce back, hosting No. 6 Kansas on Saturday at 1 p.m. on ABC.  

Nebraska (21-3, 10-3 Big Ten) dropped to No. 11 after falling at home to Purdue, despite a huge 22-point comeback to force overtime. The Cornhuskers stay at home to host Northwestern on Saturday at 1 p.m. on Big Ten Network.  

Illinois (20-5, 11-3 Big Ten) plummeted to No. 12 after back-to-back losses against Michigan State and Wisconsin, the latter of which came at home. The Fighting Illini look to bounce back, hosting Indiana on Sunday at 1 p.m. on CBS. 

St. John’s (19-5, 12-1 Big East) moved up to No. 13 after upsetting UConn and snapping the Huskies’ then-18-game winning streak. The Red Storm visit Providence on Saturday at 1 p.m. on TNT and truTV.  

North Carolina (19-5, 7-4 ACC) comes in at No. 14 after a road loss to Miami (Fla.) followed a thrilling win over Duke. The Tar Heels return home to host Pittsburgh on Saturday at 2 p.m. on ESPN.  

Virginia (21-3, 10-2 ACC) stayed at No. 15 after a close win at Florida State extended the win streak to five games. The Cavaliers take on Ohio State in the Nashville Hoops Showdown on Saturday at 8 p.m. on FOX.

Gonzaga (24-2, 10-1 WCC) comes in at No. 16 after back-to-back wins over Oregon State and Washington State to shake off the loss at Portland. The Bulldogs visit Santa Clara on Saturday at 10:30 p.m. on ESPN. 

Texas Tech (18-6, 8-3 Big 12) comes in at No. 17 following back-to-back wins over West Virginia and Colorado. The Red Raiders visit No. 2 Arizona on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN.  

Arkansas (18-6, 8-3 SEC) comes in at No. 18 following back-to-back road wins at Mississippi State and LSU. The Razorbacks host Auburn on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN. 

Vanderbilt (18-6, 8-4 ACC) moved up to No. 19 after a home loss to Oklahoma, despite a big road win at Auburn on Tuesday. The Commodores return home to host Texas A&M on Saturday at 1 p.m. on SEC Network.  

Louisville (18-6, 8-4 ACC) moved up to No. 20 after back-to-back wins over Wake Forest and N.C. State, the latter of which came in blowout fashion. The Cardinals take on Baylor in Fort Worth on Saturday at 4 p.m. on ESPN.  

BYU (18-6, 6-5 Big 12) comes in at No. 21 after snapping a four-game losing streak with a big win at Baylor. The Cougars host Colorado on Saturday at 4 p.m. on FS1. 

Miami (Ohio) (24-0, 11-0 MAC) moved up to No. 22, remaining the only undefeated team in the country after a big win at Marshall. The RedHawks return home to host Ohio tonight at 9 p.m. on ESPN.  

Saint Louis (23-1, 11-0 A-10) improved to No. 23 after extending its win streak to 17 games with an 82-58 win over La Salle. The Billikens visit Loyola Chicago tonight at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN2. 

Kentucky (17-7, 8-3 MAC) moved up to No. 24 following a big win against Tennessee on Saturday. The Wildcats visit No. 9 Florida on Saturday at 3 p.m. on ABC.  

Alabama (17-7, 7-4 SEC) returns at No. 25 after winning three-straight games to bounce back from a loss at Florida. The Crimson Tide host South Carolina on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. on SEC Network.
