The UConn women’s lacrosse team defeated the Butler Bulldogs 15-4 on Saturday, snapping their five-game losing streak. This win marks UConn’s ninth straight victory over Butler dating back to 2017.
UConn started off strong scoring six goals in the first quarter with Rayea Davis netting a hat trick. She would end the game with five for the Huskies and lead the team in scoring. She continues her dominant offensive performance as she has found the back of the net 23 times already in the first 12 games.
Davis also leads the Huskies in points this season with 33, thanks to her 23 goals and 10 assists. Megan O’Brien trails her with 31 points as she has netted 18 goals and assisted in 13. Their offense firepower has helped the Huskies score 105 goals so far this season.

In the second quarter, Butler responded with goals from Elle Tomalia and Kerrin McGovern to cut the lead to four. Davis then answered with her fourth goal, along with Karsyn Burnash netting her second to advance the Huskies to an 8-2 lead going into the half.
In the third quarter, the Huskies netted four more goals thanks to Eve McGrogan, Emma Dacey, Hadley Bethke and Davis again. They would prevent the Bulldogs from scoring until two found the back of the net in the fourth quarter.
The Huskies would close out scoring in the fourth, with goals from Burnash and Bethke finishing off the Bulldogs in dominant fashion.
In the game, Abby Beran broke the program’s single season record for caused turnovers in a season with 48.
For the team, the Huskies had a season-high 42 shots in which they outscored Butler 42-8. Additionally, they held the Bulldogs to just four goals, the lowest by a UConn opponent this season. Their strong defensive performance could be exactly what this team needs to get back on a winning streak.
The Huskies took care of business at home with a win over a struggling Butler. UConn attacked early and never looked back, with players breaking records on their way to victory. Although Butler showed signs of a fight, cutting the lead to four at one point, the Huskies responded once again to build upon their lead.
The win was a statement from the Huskies as they hope to continue their winning ways. Just four games remain for UConn as they hope to close out the season strong.
This win improves the Huskies record to 5-8 (2-3 Big East) as they look to continue their winning success in April.
They will travel to Cincinnati to face Xavier on Saturday, April 11 at noon.
