After racking up three back-to-back wins, the UConn baseball team (18-16, 4-2) will hit the road to take on the Butler Bulldogs (12-20, 3-0) this weekend in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Hook C is coming off a dominant 6-2 win over the Bryant Bulldogs, as well as wins over Creighton last Saturday and Sunday at home.
Against Bryant, the Huskies were down; that is, until the fifth inning when reliever Paxton Meyers flipped the script for his squad. Even with two Bryant players on second and third, Meyers still maintained the Huskies’ deficit at one.
After that, Meyers delivered zero walks and only three hits in 4.2 innings of work. The Huskies then brought in five runs due to a sac-fly from Rob Rispoli and a home run Nater Wachter in the sixth inning to put the Huskies up in the sixth inning.
Then, Cam Righi solidified the win for the Huskies in the ninth inning with an RBI double off an error from Bryant, bringing two runners to home plate.
As the Huskies shift their focus to Butler, they will look to snap their fellow Big East foe’s five-game winning streak to continue their own momentum and winning streak.
The Bulldogs’ most recent win was a 14-12 defeat of Southern Indiana last Tuesday. On Butler’s squad, the Huskies fielding will have to look out for Gavin Gilmore and Matthew Rhoades who are each boasting batting averages of .316 and .312, respectively.

In terms of Butler’s pitching staff, the Hook C’s hitters have the potential of facing Brock Buckley (4.96 ERA) or Max Winders (5.06 ERA) in the rotation.
The last time these conference foes faced one another was on May 11, where the Huskies took the win 7-1. With the history between these two programs dating all the way back to 2004, Connecticut has won every single game, besides their loss in May of 2023 against Butler.
The Huskies will rely on the bats from Rispoli, Righi and Chris Polemeni this weekend to stay in the win column.
First pitch for Friday’s game is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday’s game will commence at 2 p.m., and the series will conclude on Sunday with a noon start.
Husky fans can tune in to all three games on ESPN+.
