The UConn softball team (20-20, 9-3) will travel to clash with the Butler Bulldogs (17-13, 9-3) in hopes of extending their seven-game win streak.

The Huskies are favored to win, as they own an overall 15-3 record against the Bulldogs, dating back to the 2012 season. In the two programs’ previous meetings, Connecticut won two of three matches in a three-game series at home in the 2025 campaign.

In UConn’s pair of victories, Lexi Hastings paved the way. In a combined total of six at-bats, the senior slashed two runs, three hits, four RBIs, a homerun, a walk and a strikeout. Trailing behind the outfielder, Grace Jenkins accumulated two runs, four hits, two RBI’s and a walk in eight at-bats.

Not to mention, Kaiea Higa contributed a run, three hits, three RBI’s, a homerun and two walks in seven at-bats. It is worth mentioning that in game two, Kaitlyn Breslin racked up a run, two hits and two RBIs in four at-bats.

On the mound for Connecticut in game two, Sydnee Koosh pitched 6.2 innings and conceded 10 hits, nine runs, six earned runs, four walks and a strikeout. In game three, Hope Jenkins started the contest and let up three earned runs, three walks and retired one player.

Compared to the Big East rivals, the squad thrived in game one but could not continue its momentum. To kick the series off, Ella White posted a run, a hit, three RBIs and a walk in four at-bats.

After defeating the Huskies 9-4, the team fell just short, losing 10-9 in game two. In game three, Sydney Carter registered all the Bulldogs’ runs, knocking two hits and three RBIs.

On the bump in game three, Rylyn Dyer pitched for 4.1 innings, while Gwen Baker took charge for 1.2 innings. Together, the duo coughed up nine hits, five runs, four earned runs and eight walks. To finish the outing, neither pitcher earned a strikeout.

Heading into the weekend, the Bulldogs are coming off a 0-9 shutout that ended in the sixth inning versus the Indiana Hoosiers on Wednesday. Collectively, the squad struggled to generate any runs, nailing just three hits and a walk in 20 at-bats. In total, Butler left four runs on base.

Defensively, Indiana lit up pitcher Maren Berger quickly. In the first two innings, the team had already secured six hits and five runs.

In Connecticut’s 6-5 triumph over the Boston College Eagles on Tuesday, Breslin and Savannah Ring tallied five of UConn’s six RBIs. As a whole, the Huskies slashed six runs, two hits and four walks in 23 at-bats.

On the mound, Koosh pitched six innings, allowing 10 hits, five runs and earned runs and two walks. However, the junior retired five players.

Fans can tune into the series on FloSports. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. Saturday and noon on Sunday.
