Happy Valentine’s Day, Huskies! It’s been a long and cold winter, and while it seems the frightful weather outside may not be getting warmer anytime soon, there’s some comfort in knowing that there’s a day set aside to celebrate what makes us all feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Love is complicated and messy, but it can also be beautiful and endlessly rewarding — and we’re not just talking about romantic relationships. Whether you’re spending the day with a partner, a friend or a family member (or maybe even at Gampel, watching the men’s basketball team destroy Georgetown), just know that all love is precious.

For the 10th year in a row, the Life section is here to bring you the highs and lows of love, dating and everything in between. We’ve got a packed issue this year, featuring pieces on self-love, long-distance relationships and songs about boyfriends — both the good and the bad. And if you’re in the mood for something a little more exciting, we also have the results of our annual sex survey, featuring the love stories of the average Husky. Thank you to everyone who participated! We hope you experience Valentine’s Day to the fullest, and we’ll see you next time!

XOXO,

Samantha Brody, Life Editor

Anti-love songs for the perfect anti-Valentine’s Day

While many people fully embrace or are indifferent to Valentine’s Day, those who have gone through a recent breakup or who are cynical about love might hate it entirely.

Be stupid for love

Valentine’s Day is a day full of love, laughter and celebration with a significant other (a little late-night celebration if you're lucky). It’s a day when you tell your lover how much they mean to you.

Birdbrained Science: Inhuman ways to love

Happy (early) Valentine’s Day! Are you tired of seeing chocolate-covered strawberries, bouquets of roses and watching everyone post their partners? Me too, so in this special edition of Birdbrained Science, we’re going to look at a few displays of love in non-human species.

Songs of yearning for Valentine’s Day

Are you someone who has tried repeatedly to secure a romantic relationship, but just can’t seem to make it work? Or perhaps a hopeless romantic who tries just a bit too hard? If you identify with either of these, or if you just don’thave someone to spend Valentine’s Day with this year, these songs with strong themes of yearning might be relatable or comforting for you.
