So far this season, Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond has looked like a man amongst boys on the court. On Sunday night, the former Husky posted a monster double-double of 29 points and 27 rebounds. Drummond has propelled the Pistons to a 5-1 start, their best since the 2008-2009 season. Along the way, he has produced six double-doubles and three 20-20 games, averaging 20.3 points and 20.3 rebounds.
The Detroit Pistons have an important matchup against Steph Curry and the undefeated Golden State Warriors. If the Pistons hope to knock off the defending champions, Drummond must continue to play at the elite level he has been on.
Elsewhere in the NBA, Jeremy Lamb finally got his payday. The Charlotte Hornets signed Lamb to a three year, $21 million extension last week. He is averaging just 12 points per game in the early season. Fellow Hornet and former Husky, Kemba Walker is averaging 17 points and five assists in the early goings. Currently, Charlotte is 2-4 and last place in the Southeast division.
Former first-round pick Rudy Gay is leading the 1-6 Sacramento Kings in scoring with 17 points per game, teammate and NBA veteran Caron Butler is averaging just three points per game. Charlie Villanueva is playing 13 minutes a game for the Dallas Mavericks and posting six points per game. Finally, Shabazz Napier, in his second year in the NBA, is logging an average of eight minutes per game for the Orlando Magic.
