The Student Union Board of Governors (SUBOG) hosted the One Ton Sundae event despite eight inches of snow and a school cancellation on Friday.

The event was held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.

“I wanted to go,” Jake Tolson, an eighth-semester human development and family studies major, said. “I just couldn’t even get out of my driveway until Friday night.”

SUBOG holds the event annually and hands out large portions of ice cream to students. Seniors receive free ice cream.

“It doesn’t make sense to have it on a day when a lot of seniors couldn’t make it to campus,” Tolson said.

“Who would go on a day like Friday,” Alex Curry, an eighth semester civil engineer, said of the One Ton Sundae event. “It was dangerous to be on the roads until after it was over.”

SUBOG could not be reached for comment.
