Men’s Basketball: Brimah declares for NBA draft, can return later

UConn junior Amida Brimah has declared for the NBA Draft, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

Brimah will not hire an agent, giving him the option to return to UConn before the May 25 deadline imposed by the NCAA for underclassmen.

The 7-foot center from Ghana played in 25 games in the 2015-16 season, averaging 6.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game. He missed nine games during the middle part of the season due to a finger injury suffered on his right hand.

From Brimah’s freshman year, he hasn’t progressed as much as expected. But because of his height, the way he moves up and down the court and his rim-protecting ability, he still could make an impression on some NBA teams.

Brimah will go through workouts with teams to hopefully boost his stock.
