Senior center fielder Alyssa Gardea has played a major role for the UConn softball team so far this season. One of the team’s leading hitters, she has started all 33 games this season while carrying a .286 batting average along with 11 RBIs and has earned All-Conference weekly Honors twice. After sweeping Bryant, Gardea, a Corona, California native, was willing to talk about some off the field things.
Matt Barresi: What is your major?
Alyssa Gardea: I’m a Communications Major with an Entrepreneurship Minor
MB: Do you have a favorite pre-game meal?
AG: When we’re on the road in a hotel and its breakfast usually, like a continental breakfast, I always have to have a waffle.
MB: Do you have a favorite musical artist?
AG: I do but it varies. It’s like Trap genre music so it’s like Young Thug, Future, and Drake
MB: Were you excited for Fetty Wap being Spring Concert then?
AG: Yes I enrolled for the lottery tickets I hope I won.
MB: What was your favorite class you’ve taken at UConn?
AG: I would definitely have to say Intro to Sports Management with Dr. Burton
MB: Twitter or Instagram?
AG: Instagram because, I don’t know, I just like seeing people’s lives and like words don’t really matter.
MB: Favorite TV show?
AG: Ok there’s a lot but the Kardashians, on Wednesday’s Empire, Thursdays Scandal or How to Get Away with Murder.
MB: I saw the team was playing Hacky Sack earlier. Who is the best Hacky Sack player on the team?
AG: Lexi Gifford.
