The University of Connecticut’s Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Senate passed two constitutional amendments last semester that the student body voted on during a referendum that ended on Wednesday.
The first amendment was “one of the student president’s ten ex-officio nominees to the senate must be from the Veteran’s Center,” USG Speaker of the Senate George Wang said. The second was that there be another seat added to the Judiciary, Wang added.
“They (the amendments) originally should have gone to referendum during the USG elections,” Wang said.
A referendum vote was supposed to occur earlier this semester along with USG voting, however that was unable to occur, Wang said.
“As a result, the questions were placed on the homecoming ballot, since that was also open to voting by the entirety of the student body,” Wang said.
Both amendments passed the referendum votes on Wednesday.
