The coverage of the 2016 election has been prominent in highlighting the presidential candidates, but has not covered those further down the ballot in local candidacy.
Students are urged to vote and realize the significance of their votes in this election, according to comments from Rep. Gregg Haddadd and Sen. Mae Flexer in an article in the Daily Campus.
“My first race (in 2014), I won by 520 votes, that’s two percent of the vote,” Flexer said. “Those votes came from UConn students.”
“I am really excited about this campaign. We have been door knocking since July,” Haddad said. “There are 15,000 of our constituents at UConn who have really helped in previous elections.”
Though Flexer and Haddad have received much of the press coverage throughout the election, students should know the other options before heading to the polls. According to campaign websites and local reporting papers on the election, here is a chart of the other candidates running for those registered to vote in Mansfield to aid voters in making their decisions on Election Day.
