Drink of the Week: Cocoa with a kick

Two days into February and I’m already begging for another winter break. But with no class on Friday and no work on the weekends until Sunday evening, I have almost 72 hours of exclusive chill time. This week’s drink is inspired by Tuesday’s snow day, and the cozy blankets I dream about from the minute I get up in the morning until I crawl back each night. With a few variations, I think every one of you will find a spiked hot chocolate combo to keep you smiling this weekend.


-Milk, or something like it (i.e. skim, soy, almond)

-Hershey’s chocolate sauce

– Bailey’s liquor

– Whipped cream (optional)


1. Warm up one cup of milk in the microwave (avg. 2-2.5 minutes)

2. Add a lot of chocolate sauce, more than you think, test & taste to your own preference

3. Add 50 ml of Bailey’s liquor (a nip should do).

4. Stir!

5. Top with whipped cream/cinnamon/marshmallows/love and enjoy!


Bailey’s has graced us with several different creamy flavors. I used Vanilla Cinnamon, but there’s classic Irish Cream, Chocolate Cherry and Espresso Creme.
