This week’s Drink of the Week is White Hot Winter, which is based on a homemade recipe from Minimalist Baker. It’s a combination of white hot chocolate, pumpkin spice, caramel and bourbon. (
Today I’m going back to a similar idea from the beginning of February with spiked hot chocolate, but instead something a bit more daring. White Hot Winter is based on a homemade recipe from Minimalist Baker but without the effort, because who needs that in the middle of the school week? Not only does this recipe contain hot chocolate, but the warmth of bourbon as well.
Ingredients:
Milk or dairy-free alternative
(i.e. skim, soy, almond)
White hot cocoa mix: Land o’ Lakes
Pumpkin pie spice (powder)
Bourbon, your pick: Evan Williams, Jim Beam, Knob Creek?
Whipped cream & caramel sauce (optional)
Directions:
1. Warm up one cup of milk in the microwave (avg. 2-2.5 minutes)
2. Add the packet of white hot chocolate and a dash or two of the pumpkin spice.
3. Add 50 ml of bourbon,
4. Stir!
5. Top with whipped cream/caramel sauce
Enjoy!
Note: I would recommend using a mug, not a glass, because if the glass is too hot to handle, how will you enjoy the drink?
