With the No. 1 UConn Huskies startling 66-64 loss to No. 2 Mississippi State in the Final Four, the greatest streak in NCAA collegiate sports was snapped. Here are the key numbers from the 111-game winning streak.
865: Since Nov. 23, 2014, the Huskies went 865 days without losing. The streak started with a win over Creighton 96-60.
111: The UConn Huskies NCAA winning streak, which spanned two national championships and three American conference titles.
108: UConn defeated 108 of the 111 opponents by a double-digit margin. The three exceptions were Florida State on Nov. 14, 2016, Maryland on Dec. 29, 2016 and Tulane Feb. 18, 2017.
81: Wins while ranked the No. 1 team in America by the AP.
70: The Huskies won 70 straight conference games playing in the American.
65: UConn defeated No. 20 South Florida 103-37 on Jan. 10, 2017. The 65 point margin of victory was the biggest during the streak.
61: UConn victories by at least 40 points. The Huskies had 17 such wins this season, including seven in a row from Jan 4. 2017 to Jan. 28.
44: Number of wins coming at home arenas for UConn.
29: Wins against top ranked teams, including nine against top five opponents and 11 in the 2016-2017 season.
27: Wins at Gampel Pavilion in a row.
26: The Huskies won 26 straight games in March, with the closest margin of victory being 10 points against Notre Dame in the 2015 national championship game.
24: Fewest amount of points let up, which came against the College of Charleston Nov. 28 2014 in the Gulf Coast Showcase.
23: More wins than the illustrious men’s record held by the 1970-74 UCLA teams coach by John Wooden.
16: Number of NCAA tournament wins in a row. Overall the Huskies were on a 28 game tournament winning streak before their loss in the Final Four.
13: Times scoring 100 or more points in a game. The Huskies scored over 100 points five times this season, including three times in March.
7: Different players named to the All-Conference First team. Breanna Stewart, Morgan Tuck and Moriah Jefferson were named to the first team twice.
3: Different number of players named Conference Player of the Year. Breanna Stewart won in 2015 and 2016, sophomores Napheesa Collier and Katie Lou Samuelson shared the distinction in 2017.
2: Closest margin of victory, which came in the opening game of the 2016-2017 season against Florida State. The Huskies won 76-74 on the road on Nov. 14.
1: Wins over Mississippi State. The Huskies throttled the Bulldogs 98-38 in the regional semifinal of the 2016 NCAA tournament.
