Women’s lax returns home to face Butler at home

The Huskies will be facing Butler at the George J. Sherman Family Complex on Saturday, April 8th, after their loss to Vanderbilt on Wednesday.

UConn outshot Vanderbilt 20-17 within the first half of the matchup on Wednesday. UConn fell short in the second half when the Commodores outshot the Huskies 19-9. Vanderbilt defeated UConn 16-8 after scoring nine goals within their strong second half

UConn is currently 3-8 overall for the season and 0-4 in conference play after their loss in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday. They’re looking for their first Big East win at their home game in the George J. Sherman Complex against Butler.

Butler is currently 1-11 in the season and 0-4 in conference play. The Bulldogs have been defeated in their last six games and are looking to discontinue this streak Saturday. UConn has also lost the past four matchups against conference opponents. The matchup between UConn and Butler marks the fifth competition in the Big East for both teams.

UConn players to watch is leading scorer Grace Nolan, with 27 goals, .628 shot percentage, and 44 points this season. Goalie Grace Beshlian has a record of 119 saves and an average of .444 save percentage. Jacqueline Jordan also has 24 goals, 8 assists, and 32 points for the season so far.

Butler players to watch for are Halley Hallenbeck, the lead scorer for the Bulldogs with 22 goals and 25 points. Journey Fischbeck also has a total of 25 points and 14 goals for the season so far.

The Huskies home game Saturday at 1 p.m. will decide whether UConn or Butler will clench their first Big East win of the season.
