The Panda Express at the Student Union may be replaced next semester, according to University of Connecticut spokesperson Stephanie Reitz.
“The lease for the space occupied by Panda Express is expiring, and the university invited food retailers to submit bids earlier this semester,” Reitz said. “Panda Express is among the companies who responded with a bid.”
UConn will announce the results of the bidding once a company has been selected, Retiz said. So far the companies are in the process of bidding, Reitz said.
While Panda Express is closing for the summer, it is unrelated to the lease, Reitz said, as the company traditionally closes over the summer in the Union.
“I think Panda will be missed,” said senior economics major Connor Kennedy. “[I eat there] once every two weeks. [I hope it’s replaced] with Chick-fil-A.”
