A water main break on North Eagleville Road affected the facilities of several buildings at the University of Connecticut Thursday morning.
“This was an old pipe that is currently in the process of being replaced,” UConn’s Spokesman Tom Breen said. “We’re doing this project because the infrastructure of these buildings is so old and subject to breaks.”
The restrooms in the Torrey Life Sciences Building, Atwater Laboratory and the Hillel building were shut down until further notice according to an alert that was sent out to the UConn community at 10:18 a.m. Thursday.
“We put up signs saying there are no bathrooms, but they are close to buildings that are not affected,” Breen said.
The buildings remained open and classes were not affected.
“We’re hoping to have this resolved as soon as possible, but we don’t have a firm time frame yet,” Breen said.
