UConn softball played eight exhibition matchups this Fall and took a win in each. Their opponents, featuring Boston College, Holy Cross, Bryant, Hartford, Dartmouth and Central Connecticut, are all tough competitors in the field.

“Fall is a great time to evaluate our team and what we need to work on”
The Huskies have brought in six freshmen to the team for the upcoming season. Matched with the 13 players brought in last year, this is a young team.
“The freshmen were working hard and getting used to the speed of the game,” head coach Jen McIntyre said. “So many underclassmen playing well, and credit to the upperclassmen, especially the seniors who are leading the team.” This is McIntyre’s fourth season with the Huskies.
UConn has improved on their previous Fall season, in which they went 5-1 (score not kept in two outings). “Fall is a great time to evaluate our team and what we need to work on,” McIntyre said. “More than any individual, the team stuck out. It was a really positive note for us.”
The Huskies will now move to eight-hour weeks in addition to individual workouts. Full team official practices do not begin until January.
“We’re focused on our goals at this point. The group is on a mission.”
Having gone 17-31 last season, the Huskies are hoping to see a major improvement when play begins in February. The spring schedule has not been released yet.
