Halloween is right around the corner, and with it comes a giant collection of spooky and delicious treats. To fit the theme, this week’s recipe is “monster munch” which is a trail-mix-esque treat that includes popcorn, chocolate and pretzels. It’s beyond easy to make, it’s Halloween-y and it’ll satisfy all of your sweet and salty snack cravings.
- 3 c. kettle corn
- 2 c. pretzels
- 1 c. semisweet chocolate chips, melted
- 1 c. white chocolate chips, melted
- 1/2 c. candy corn
- 1/2 c. yellow, orange and brown M&M’s
- 2 tsp. Halloween-colored sprinkles or nonpareils
On a parchment-lined baking sheet, place a single layer of kettle corn. Mix in pretzels, making sure you have a single even layer. Transfer melted chocolates to separate piping or Ziploc bags (with a corner snipped). Drizzle kettle corn and pretzels with melted semisweet chocolate, making sure to drizzle lines very close together (you want the majority of the mix to be covered in chocolate). Top with candy corn and M&M’s. Then, drizzle with melted white chocolate. Top with sprinkles and freeze or refrigerate until the chocolate is firm, which should take about 20 minutes. Break into pieces and serve.
This recipe takes about 10 minutes to make and can be stored in a container for up to three days. It is super customizable, so if you don’t like one of the ingredients you can switch it for whatever snack you’d like to add. I love this recipe because it fits the Halloween theme but is not difficult or too crazy to make. Anyone can do it and it can be whipped up as a last-minute snack. If you’re planning a Halloween party or just want a spooky treat to impress your friends, “monster munch” is the way to go.
