Storrs Wine and Spirits had their liquor permit suspended Monday, Oct. 23.
According to a notice posted on the store’s door by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, the suspension had been imposed for selling to minors.
The store’s permit was only suspended for one day and it has since reopened.
“Our Liquor Control Division gets referrals and complaints from a variety of sources. We actively investigate every complaint we receive,” Lora Rae Anderson, Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection’s Director of Communications, said.
According to Anderson, consumers who have a complaint or concern about a liquor permittee should contact the Department of Consumer Protection Liquor Control Division at dcp.liquorcontrol@ct.gov or at (860) 713-6210.
In Sept. 2015, several UConn students were arrested outside of Storrs Wine and Spirits for providing alcohol to minors.
The Daily Campus reported some students had various experiences with the store’s procedures to ensure customers are of age.
