Thirsty Thursday: Spoopy Margarita

We know that these ingredients don’t look particularly spoopy (except for maybe the lime) but when they are combined together they make a truly fantastic Halloweekend drink. (Amar Batra/The Daily Campus)

With Halloweekend fast approaching, our Thirsty Thursday drink this week is a spooky spin on a margarita. The Spoopy Margarita’s green sugar rim and dark green color adds the perfect amount of Halloween to this classic drink. This margarita is really easy to make and a lot spookier than jungle juice, so it is the perfect drink to make this Halloweekend.

Ingredients

  • Green sugar sprinkles
  • Two ounces of tequila
  • One ounce of triple sec
  • 1/4 cup of lime juice
  • Red, blue and green food coloring
  • Lime slices

Run the lime slice around the rim of the glass and then dip it in the sugar to coat the rim. Pour the triple sec, tequila and lime juice into the glass over ice and stir to combine. Drop in as much food coloring as you like until your drink reaches the desired dark green color, stirring the drink to ensure the food coloring is evenly distributed. Top off with the lime slice. This drink tastes like a traditional margarita, and the sugar rim (instead of salt) did not seem too out of place on this spooky drink.

The best thing about the Spoopy Margarita is definitely the aesthetic. The green sugar around the rim adds the perfect amount of Halloween flair while still staying true to the looks of a traditional margarita. The deep bluish greenish color is also a nice touch, and is sure to mystify your friends this Halloweekend.
