Two of the biggest names in the rap scene right now have made it official after dismissing rumors of an engagement only a few months prior. On Friday night at the Power 99 Powerhouse concert, the couple was performing on stage together when Offset, a member of the immensely popular trio Migos, dropped to one knee to reveal an eight-carat diamond ring.

In the video that has been circulating the internet this past weekend, Cardi appears overcome with emotion as she jumps around stage in a fit of surprise and happiness before her man stands up and slides the ring onto her finger. Meanwhile, the fans are in a frenzy. There is a discernable moment of realization within the crowd as they erupt in cheers once they get this is no joke.

While their relationship may be relatively new—they have only been dating for a little less than year—they remain optimistic and seem incredibly happy together as far as the public is concerned. Cardi turned to Instagram the following day to comment on the engagement writing, “Your such a amazing man to me your family ,friends ,kids and you are extremely talented.I can’t wait to spend FOREVAAAA with you (sic).” Grammar, spelling and conventions of the English language aside, the entire caption was very heartfelt and optimistic for their future.

She later followed that post up with another in similar style, this time taking a close-up shot of the massive rock on her finger, remarking on how she still cannot believe how surreal it is to be moving forward with this part of her life. The couple has been fending off rumors of engagement for months prior to Offset finally popping the question this weekend. Cardi B had quickly dispelled them, telling MTV during the 2017 VMA Pre-Show in August, “I’m a woman. Every woman, I think, wants to get married and wants to have children. It’s never too early to get married now. You know, if you want to propose to me you can.” When asked if she’d ever exert pressure on her partner to propose, the rapper said, “I don’t got to put the pressure, you know what I’m saying? I put it down. Ain’t no pressure, baby!”

Rabid fans and others involved in the entertainment industry are already hard at work speculating what the next big move might be for the couple. There have been talks of a potential reality television show focusing on the lifestyle of the two eccentric young rappers and their process of trying to start a family. Not that there is any shortage of reality TV being produced right now, but it is certainly an interesting idea with tons of fan backing and huge viewer potential. In an era of entertainment characterized and dominated by an obsession with the intangible lives of the rich and famous, many have a strong suspicion this is a likely avenue for them should they agree to participate. Whatever the future may have in store for this young couple, it is sure to be interesting.
